MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Chairperson of the National Civil Society Council of Liberia is urging political actors to conduct their campaign activities in a peaceful and non-violence manner.
Madam Loretta Pope-Kai wants supporters of political parties to desist from acts that undermine the peace and tranquility of the country by spreading hate messages to incite the youth to violence and intimidating women’s political candidates.
She also described it as bad politics, if political actors incite their foot soldiers to damage campaign posts, banners, and fliers of other candidates.
A release quotes Madam Pope-Kai as also calling on traditional leaders not to engage in the use of tradition as a means to chase non-society members from campaign processes.
She said:” The council is aware that an election is about ideas on issues that will better the welfare of the nation and its people, as opposed to hatred.”
