Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission Dedicates New Headquarters

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) has dedicated its new Headquarters in Congo Town.

The Headquarters worth over three hundred thousand United States Dollars was constructed with support from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

The Executive Director of the LRRRC, Festus Logan, described the dedication as a testimony to the resilience of the Government of Liberia and partners to catering to the needs of refugees across the country.

Rev. Logan said:” The project is a fulfillment of President George Weah’s mandate to safe the Liberian Government millions of dollars on the payment of rent.”

The LRRRC Boss reaffirmed the Commission’s preparedness to protect refugees across the country.
At the same time, President Weah wants the LRRRC Management Team to maintain the Headquarters to address the needs of refugees.

President Weah said: “The proper upkeep of the facilities will strengthen and add value to the functions of the institution.”
According to the Liberian Leader, the construction and dedication of the facilities demonstrate the critical role the Commission continues to play in bettering the lives of refugees and asylum seekers.

He commended the LRRRC and partners for their invaluable contributions to the provision of safe haven for refugees in the country.

President George Weah made the remarks at the dedicatory ceremony of the LRRRC Headquarters in Congo Town on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Country Representative of the UNHCR extolled the donor community for contributing to the completion of the LRRRC Headquarters.

Anthony Akumu-Abogi named supporting partners as the European Union, the Governments of the United Kingdom and United States, China and ECOWAS, among others.

Speaking at the dedication, Mr. Akumu-Abogi said:” The completion of the project has added dignity to the lives of refugees and asylum seekers across the country.”

The UNHCR Country Representative believes that the project t will further enhance the work of the LRRRC.

Mr. Anthony Akumu-Abogi lauded the contractors and staff of the LRRRC for their commitment and dedication to construct a Headquarters for their Commission.
