MONROVIA LIBERIA – Personnel of the Armed Forces of Liberia and civilians are to shortly benefit from medical treatment at the 14th Military Hospital in Duazohn, Margibi County.
This is because the Hospital is at least 95-percent completed for dedication by President George Weah on Tuesday, February 11, Armed Forces Day.
During a tour of the hospital Monday, President Weah said the health facility will greatly help with the health needs of the army and civilians.
President Weah said he is impressed by the level of work done on the health facility, terming it as a dream come through.
The Liberian Leader also stressed the need for Government to invest more in the AFL.
President George Weah said the Army has become a versatile force, capable of protecting the sovereignty of the Country.
“Our military personnel are versatile. This entire hospital facility was built by our AFL men and women. Most of the servicemen including doctors and nurses will be soldiers”, the President, lavishing praises on the AFL’s engineering team said.
“The more hospitals we build, the more our people will access wide range of medical facilities and services,” he emphasized.
President Weah personally laid the first block of the medical facility back in March 2018 immediately following a groundbreaking ceremony.
The 14 Military Hospital sits on just 5 of 75 acres allotted. Additionally, a US$21m facility including dormitory, teach and training centers as well as a modern laboratory will be built.
Meanwhile, AFL Chief of Staff, Major General Prince Johnson has disclosed that new facilities are expected to be constructed and annexed to the 14th Military Hospital.
Maj. General Johnson named the facilities as laboratory, teaching headquarters and dormitories worth over Twenty One Million United States Dollars.
The AFL Chief of Staff said five out of the seventy five acres of land have been used so far for the construction of the facilities.
He said the 14th Military Hospital will also cater the health needs of retired Army personnel. Major General Prince Johnson told ELBC that the health facility is an added advantage to the Country’s health system.
