MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Bomi County Senator Alex Tyler has taken exception to a resolution passed by the House of Representatives, establishing a War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.
Recently, the majority of members of the House signed a resolution for the establishment of the Court and forwarded it to the Liberian Senate for concurrence.
But, in an interview on the ELBC’s Super Morning Show on Monday, April 1, 2024, Senator Tyler said:” Instead of a resolution, members of the House of Representatives should have introduced a bill, calling for the setup of the Court.”
Senator Tyler said there should have been a closed-door meeting by both Houses to understand the legal framework and content of the bill before it is introduced for speedy passage.
The Bomi County Senator clarified that though he supports the establishment of a War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia, the procedure must be done consistent with lawmaking.
