MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Members of the House of Representatives have unanimously voted to lift the moratorium placed on the exportation of unprocessed rubber.
Former President George Weah, in late 2023, issued Executive Order 124, placing an indefinite moratorium on the exportation of the commodity from the Country.
However, the Plenary’s decision to lift the ban was triggered by a communication from Bong County District Seven Representative, Foday Fahnbulleh.
Representative Foday believes placing a ban on the exportation of unprocessed rubber has a far-reaching negative impact on local producers and farmers.
The Bong County Lawmaker recounted the impact and unbearable suffering Liberian rubber farmers are faced with, as a result of the Executive Order.
Meanwhile, the House is expected to forward their decision to the Executive for action.
