MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia, and Sierra Leone have agreed to deploy a joint labor inspectorate team at Bo Waterside Border Point to monitor and curb the influx of illegal migrants into the two neighboring countries.
The decision was reached on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, when the Sierra Leonean Minister of Empowerment, Labor, and Social Security, Mohammed Rahman-Swaray, officially visited the Labor Ministry.
Mr. Swaray and Deputy Labor Minister for Planning and Manpower Development, Steven Kolubah, raised concerns over the unrestricted influx of foreign nationals, mostly Asians, in the two countries.
According to a recent Labor Ministry release, the two officials also called for a close working relationship between the Liberian and Sierra Leonean Governments to create an enabling environment for their respective citizens.
Minister Steven Kolubah also assured of the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing border surveillance between the two Mano River Union States.
