MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has by proclamation declared today Wednesday, June 5, as World Environment Day, to be observed throughout the country as a Working Holiday.
President Boakai also called on citizens and residents in Liberia to cooperate with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in executing appropriate programs befitting the occasion.
A Foreign Ministry release issued on Wednesday, June 4, 2024, said Liberia will observe the Day under the theme:” Our Land, Our Future.”
The proclamation noted that the Day presents an opportunity to focus on the importance of the environment and to empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development.
During the observance, there will be a global call for governments, industries, communities, and individuals to take appropriate actions to protect and restore productive land aimed at boosting livelihoods and supporting food security.
