IVORY COAST-The Liberian Community in the Ivory Coast has donated over thirty sachets and bottles of water to former Liberian Refugees returning from Ghana.
Making the presentation on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Elubo Border between Ghana and the Ivory Coast, the group’s National President, Adam Gweemei, said:” The provision of safe drinking water is our way of identifying with the returnees.”
Mr. Gweemei noted that the donation will help to complement the Liberia Government’s efforts in providing for the Liberian migrants.
Receiving the item, the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Committee (LRRRC) Director of Humanitarian Affairs, Jeredine Koleh, thanked the Liberian Community in Ivory Coast for the gesture.
She called on other humanitarian organizations and well-meaning Liberians to emulate the good example of the Liberian-Ivoirian-based group.
About seven hundred sixty-nine Liberian migrants are en route to Liberia under the second phase of the Liberian Government’s repatriation program.
