MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Japan has officially handed over three thousand two hundred metric tons of rice worth over one million US Dollars to the Liberian Government.
Japanese Ambassador to Liberia, Mochizuki Hisanobu, said:” The initiative is an attestation of the longstanding bilateral ties between Japan and Liberia.”
Ambassador Hisanobu noted that the donation is also intended further to cement the relations between the two nations and peoples.
The Japanese Ambassador emphasized his Government’s commitment to working with its Liberian counterparts to improve the people’s social and economic well-being.
Ambassador Mochizuki Hisanobu said:” Japan has been assisting Liberia in various sectors, including infrastructure development, agriculture, and human resource e capacity building, among others.
Receiving the rice, Acting Foreign Minister Gabriel Salee, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, lauded Japan for the donation.
Minister Salee described the donation as a milestone initiative, noting it signifies the historic relationship between the two countries.
He said Japan’s contribution to Liberia is immense and cannot be overemphasized.
The Acting Foreign Minister also noted that the donation of the donation to Liberia symbolizes Japan’s commitment to humanitarian causes.
The donation is part of Japan’s KR Food Aid Rice 2022 Agenda.
