MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has called for stronger collaboration among the three branches of the Liberian Government.

President Boakai said:” The Government will only achieve its goal of meeting the needs of the people if the three branches effectively work together.

The Liberian Leader added that there is a need to always sit together as duty-bearers to resolve challenges confronting the Government.

President Boakai called on members of his Government not to allow the social media debate on how the Government is being run.

He made the statement at the Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Ministerial Complex over the weekend, following a meeting with heads and members of the National Legislature and the Judiciary.

At the same time, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Cllr. Fonatti Koffa has described the meeting as a way forward to strengthening coordination among the three branches.

Speaker Koffa said:” The meeting demonstrates President Boakai’s commitment and desire to inclusive government.”

The Speaker thanked President Boakai and called for frequent engagements among them.

In remarks, Senate Protempt Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence pledged the Liberian Senate’s commitment to effective coordination among the branches.

The Grand Bassa County Senator noted that the Liberian Government will only work in the interest of the people if the branches of Government effectively work together.

For her part, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, Sie-A-Youh, said the three branches have agreed to further pursue coordination.

Justice Youh noted that no Government can achieve its goal if coordination among its functionaries is not strengthened.

The Chief Justice said:” Discussing cardinal issues about the effective running of the Government collectively will positively affect the lives of the people.”

Madam Youh called on her colleagues to ensure that coordination is done in line with the powers and responsibilities of each branch as prescribed by law.
