MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti is seeking technical support from the EU to establish a War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.

Minister Nyanti said:” The establishment of an office to facilitate the Court reflects the Government’s commitment to addressing past injustices and providing closure to the countless victims of conflict.”

The Dean of the Cabinet spoke on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the start of the Twelfth Liberia-European Union Partnership Dialogue in Monrovia.

Minister Nyanti noted that the Government recognizes the imperative of transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption as pillars of a thriving democracy.

The Liberian Foreign Minister assured the government of its dedication to the rule of law and governance reform.

Meanwhile, the Head of the EU Delegation in Liberia, Ambassador Nona Deprez, expressed confidence that the ongoing Dialogue is the first under the Samoa Agreement and the first since the inception of the new administration.

Ambassador Deprez noted that the Samoa Agreement is the new principal framework for European Union relations with two billion people from seven African Caribbean and Pacific Countries.

The Agreement brings together more than half of the members of the UN from four continents around shared priorities and interests.

Ambassador Nona Deprez said the EU looks forward to a comprehensive and deep engagement in all of the facets of its partnership with Liberia.
