MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is expected to launch the ‘Street Child Project’ under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The Project is titled:” Support a Child, Save the Future,” and it is a five-year national-driven project that seeks to remove more than seven thousand children from street situations across the country.
According to a recent release issued, the project underscores the beginning of a renewed and concerted effort to create a safer and more supportive environment for every child in Liberia.
The Gender Ministry release said a 2022 survey revealed that over three hundred thousand children are living in the streets across the country.
According to the survey, Montserrado County accounts for 42%, leaving the remaining counties with 16%.
Meanwhile, Wednesday’s launch of the project symbolizes a practical approach to permanently removing children from the streets.
