MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A senior World Bank Delegation in Liberia has recommitted the Bank to transforming the country’s Education Sector.
World Bank Economist and Team lead Alonjo Sanchez said:” The Bank is poised to launch a new project to promote excellence in education, including the IRISE Project, and the Liberia Learning Foundation, which is a clear demonstration of the Bank’s commitment to better the Sector.”
The World Bank Official was speaking on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, during a courtesy meeting with the Chair of the House Committee on Education and Public Administration, Representative Romeo Quiah.
Mr. Sanchez said the World Bank will continue to be a strategic partner to Liberia in supporting its development programs, especially education.
Meanwhile, the House Committee Chairman on Education and Public Administration, Sinoe County District-One Representative Romeo Quiah, has hailed the contributions of the World Bank in helping to strengthen education in Liberia.
Representative Quiah said:” The different programs tailored by the Bank, especially on education, are having a substantial impact on the Sector.”
He told the visiting team that, while Liberia appreciates the Bank for its support over the years, more needs to be done to transform the Sector.
Representative Romeo Quiah said the challenges confronting education are enormous, with an urgent need for serious investment to address the challenges.
