by Fabine W. Kwiah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Criminal Court ‘A’ Judge Roosevelt Willie on Tuesday denied the motion to grant bail to defendant Ibrahim Khalil, a Guinean National, and ordered   Prosecution not to extradite the defendant to Guinea or any other country without the legal determination of the matter.

The Court, in its ruling, noted that since these receipts, cash, and other items in the possession of Prosecution, were not delivered to the Court, and that failure on their part to forward said receipts containing the names of the items, appropriate and legal items will be taken in the interest of justice and fair play.

The items, according to the averment of the writ arresting the defendant, have several receipts naming, an AK-47 rifle, LAR rifle, PKM, RPG,  motor weapons, and cash in both United States dollars, and several currencies.

Prosecution in their writ alleged that currencies were solicited by the defendant from former Guinean President Alpha Condeh, to overthrow the current Government of Guinea, headed by General Mamady Doumbuyah.

On September 12, the Defense Team of the Guinean National headed by Cllr, Syrenus Cephus filed motions to admit to bail suppress evidence, and return his client’s properties, and argued that evidence obtained by the Prosecution was mere allegations because they did not obtain any evidence of such.

Defendant Ibrahim Khali said the charges against him were all lies, and only intended to put his life at risk, and that his continuous detention at the Monrovia Central Prison is based on an imaginary fairy tale.

Defendant Ibrahim Khalil was arrested by State Security at the Liberian-Guinean Border, and subsequently charged with the crimes of mercenaries, armed insurrection, and paramilitary activities, among others.
