Save the Children Int’l-Liberia Embarks on Child Rights and Gender Equality…

GBARNGA, LIBERIA-Save the Children International-Liberia has embarked on child rights and gender equity training in Gbarnga, Bong County, to ensure participants gain knowledge on the UN Conventions on the Rights of Child.

The training is also intended to link right-based practice to legislation and policy context and to understand rights-based practices across schools in the country.

The training has brought together partners and policymakers from the Ministries of Gender and Education, Civil Society Organizations, the Liberia National Police (LNP) Women and Children Protection Unit, the Foundation for International Dignity (FIND), Parents-Teachers Association based in Gbarnga, As well as Save the Children-Liberia.

During the one-day-long training, participants shared their thoughts on how children can be protected from harm and abuse, as well as seeking approaches to protect the child from harmful discipline and discrimination.

Topics discussed at the refresher training include understanding Child maltreatment, Child Neglect, Principles in working with Children, and Adolescents exposed to maltreatment, gender equity, and the process of being fair to all people.

Save the Children-Liberia is implementing projects in nine of Liberia’s fifteen counties, including Montserrado, Bong, Margibi, Grand Bassa, River Cess, River Gee, Grand Gedeh, Nimba, and Lofa.
