MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) Director General, Eugene Fahngon, has described as a grand scam the operations of the DSTV Liberia.
Director Fahngon said:” It is disappointing for DSTV Liberia to be operating in the Country for over twenty years without tangibles, but only selling subscriptions from other countries to Liberians. It is unimaginable that the cable company does not even have headquarters in Liberia after twenty years of operations.”
The LBS Boss said DSTV, without headquarters in Liberia, charged the Liberia National Television (LNTV), thirty-eight thousand US Dollars to be on its platform.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DSTV Liberia, Simeon Freeman, has pleaded with the House of Representatives Committee on Posts and Telecommunications for mercy, following his failure to appear before the Committee, recently.
The disclosure was made on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, by the Director of Press and Public Affairs at the House of Representatives, Robert Haynes.
My. Haynes told the ELBC that Mr. Freeman has also assured the Committee of working along with the relevant authorities to ensure that Liberian contents are uplifted on the DSTV.
At the same time, the Director of Press and Public Affairs at the House of Representatives disclosed that the Committee is expected to carry on an inspection of the DSTV facility shortly.
Mr. Robert Haynes said it followed concerns raised by the LBS Director General, Eugene Fahngon, over the failure of the DSTV to build headquarters in Liberia, after operating in the country for over twenty years.
