NEW YORK, USA-President Joseph Boakai has reaffirmed Liberia’s support for upholding the principles of peace, security, human rights, and democracy.

President Boakai said:” Maintaining global peace and security is crucial to accelerating development and growth, and Liberia is ably prepared to make meaningful contributions to this noble cause, and that the voices of the marginalized are heard and peace is maintained for future generations.”

President Boakai also said that being a member of the Security Council would further deepen Liberia’s commitment to upholding the values enshrined in the UN Charter.

He then called for the collective support of the UN, partners, and citizens at home and abroad to realize this goal.

At the same time, the Liberian Leader has described Liberia as a beacon of hope and a model for democratic governance in Africa.

The President said:” As a country, Liberia has endured turbulent moments, including the civil unrest, but has proven to be a destination of peace over the years.”

He underscored the resilience demonstrated by Liberians as evidence of the hope and transformation that the country is currently enjoying.

President Boakai said the citizens’ renewed vigor and dedication to fostering a culture of peace has been a driving force for Liberia’s thriving democracy.

He made the remarks on Friday, September 27, 2024, when the Liberian Government officially launched Liberia’s bid for a Non-Permanent Seat on the UN Security Council in New York, the United States.

The ceremony was attended by several Liberians, including former President, Ellen John-Sirleaf and other eminent citizens who have gone to support the country’s bid for said post.
