MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai and entourage are back home after attending the 2024 World Food Forum in Italy.
The five-day event, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was intended for world leaders to brainstorm on finding solutions to rising global food insecurity.
President Boakai, in his keynote address to that global body, pledged Liberia’s commitment to supporting initiatives geared towards ending food insecurity and other agriculture related challenges.
The Liberian Leader, as part of the Forum, met and held discussions with executives of the European Investment Bank and Confimea Mediterraneo aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties with Italy.
President Joseph Boakai and delegation also had an audience with Holiness Pope Francis, where the Liberian Leader extolled the Catholic Church for the contributions made in bettering the lives of citizens.
At the same time, President Joseph Boakai has described the media as a catalyst to building an inclusive and responsible government.
President Boakai said:” The media, as watchdog of society, has the essential role in ensuring that the Government and other State actors remain accountable to the people.”
According to the President, the Liberian Press holds the key to fostering a culture of transparency and trust, which are crucial component of a thriving democracy.
The Liberian Leader made the remarks at a thanksgiving and prayer service held at his Rehab residence in Paynesville over the weekend.
President Joseph Boakai then urged journalists to uphold high value of professionalism, commitment and integrity in the discharge of their duties, as these are critical to effecting the change the citizens have been yearning for.
