MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has begun restructuring the Foreign Service to ensure accountability and effective operations of the country’s diplomatic missions.
Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah told the MICAT Press Briefing recently that as part of the process, President Joseph Boakai has cancelled the appointment of ambassadors-at-large, special envoys, and trade and investment representatives.
Minister Piah said:” The President’s mandate takes immediate effect and is intended to align the roles of these foreign diplomats with the country’s governance needs and foreign policy direction.
The MICAT Boss believes that the appointments are pivotal in aiding the Liberian Government to develop a more coordinated approach to international relations, trade and investment opportunities for Liberia.
