BAKU, AZERBAIJAN-Liberia’s Vice President Jeremiah Koung wants developed countries to increase their contributions towards the fulfillment of the New Collective Quantified Goal on Climate Finance.
Vice President Koung said:” Executing such mandate will improve and protect global biodiversity and the conservation of mangroves, freshwater ecosystem services, child rights, and human mobility, among others.”
The Liberian Vice President was speaking at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change on Tuesday, November 12,2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He also called for stronger cooperative action and decision at COP29 consistent with the Africa Group position in making the carbon market and non-carbon market mechanisms effective and efficient.
Vice President Jeremiah Koung, however, reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at tackling issues of climate change, and the reduction of greenhouse gases by 64%, based on adequate funding.
