GRAND BASSA COUNTY, LIBERIA-A project intended to hold public officials accountable was launched on Monday in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

The one-point-five million Euro Project, sponsored by the Irish Government, is jointly propelled by the Center for Democratic Governance, Center for Transparency and Accountability (CENTAL), and the National Youth Movement for Transparent Election (NAYMOTE).

Our Correspondent said the Executive Director of the Center for Democratic Governance, John Saygbeh, stressed that enlightening parties concerned to hold their leaders accountable is crucial to democratic governance.

According to our Correspondent, Cllr. Saygbeh then underscored the significance of citizens demanding accountability from their leaders, an act which keeps them in check in managing the country’s resources.

Meanwhile, participants at the program believe that they are constantly being strangulated by corrupt leaders, who have helped to keep them in disadvantaged conditions over the years.

The project, which runs from 2024 to 2027, has been launched in Bong, Margibi and now Grand Bassa Counties.
