MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Health and partners have concluded a four-day National Community and Health Acceleration Plan Workshop in Monrovia.
The workshop focused on accessing Liberia’s community health progress, pressing challenges and the establishment of a clear path towards achieving universal health coverage.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Louis Kpoto, said:” To achieve the goals of the community health program, the wrongs should be corrected.”
Dr. Kpoto challenged community health workers to improve the quality of health at community levels, community health centers should be staffed with efficient personnel to deliver on the goals of the program.
The Health Minister then commended the Africa Center for Disease Control for efforts in the validation of Liberia’s Community Health Policy.
Meanwhile, Community Health Specialist of the Africa Center for Disease Control, Dr. Banabas Yeboah, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continuously supporting Liberia’s Health Care System.
Dr. Yeboah praised the level of political willingness Liberia has demonstrated to achieving the goal of community health program that aligns with the Monrovia call to action.
He said:” The Africa CDC encouraged member states to engage in domestic resource mobilization to reduce dependency on donors in achieving universal health coverage.
Dr. Banabas Yeboah has recommended the Africa CDC member states should strengthen leadership capacities to adequately implement the goals of the community health policy at all levels, and commended the Health Ministry for the collaboration.
