MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has declared Monday, December 9, as International Anti-Corruption Day, to be observed today, December 6, as a Working Holiday throughout the country.
This year marks the 21st commemoration of the Day in Liberia and will be held under the national theme:” Uniting with Youth against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.”
The Proclamation calls on all ministries and agencies of the Liberian Government, local and international organizations, and the UN organs in Liberia, to collaborate with the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) in executing appropriate programs befitting the day.
The release noted that the significance of the day is to raise awareness about corruption and promote anti-corruption day campaign activities, including the role of the UN Convention Against Corruption in combating and preventing it.
It also disclosed that this year’s event will kick off today with a parade at the VAMOMA House in Oldest Congo Town beginning at 8 a.m., followed by an indoor program at the Monrovia City Hall at 10 a.m.
