MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has dismissed two employees and suspended several others for alleged theft at the institution.

Dr. Dougbeh Nyan dismissed Special Assistant to the Deputy Director for Administration George Watson and Director of Logistics Pewee Quaqua.

Deputy Director for Logistics Darlington Bah was suspended for a time indefinitely, while three drivers, Alexander Jisay, Jerome Ponney, and Kennedy Gayflor were suspended for three months without pay.

According to the NPHIL release issued recently, they were dismissed and suspended for their reported role in the unauthorized removal of eleven vehicles from the compound of the institution and illegally sold them.

The NPHIL release further quotes the Investigation Committee as recommending to President Joseph Boakai the dismissal of the Deputy Director General for Administration, Dr. Adams Lincoln for his role in masterminding the unlawful removal and illegal disposal of the NPHIL vehicles, as well as fraudulently creating fake General Several Service Agency (GSA) documents to take personal ownership of an NPHIL vehicle.

The NPHIL Boss recommitted his administration to maintaining the integrity and standards of the NPHIL.

Meanwhile, the dismissed employees have been turned to the Justice Ministry for further action.
