MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s First Lady Kartumu Boakai has, with immediate effect, suspended two of her office staff in connection to a scholarship allegation.

Varfee Holmes and Lemuel Vah were suspended on Monday, January 2025, for reportedly taking monies from Liberians under the pretext of awarding them scholarships to study in Great Britain.

They were also suspended for allegedly soliciting four thousand US Dollars from a Liberian parent to secure scholarships for two of his children.

In a release issued recently, Madam Boakai expressed deep regret in the action demonstrated by the two suspects against peaceful and struggling Liberians.

The Office of the First Lady has reaffirmed Madam Boakai’s commitment to serving Liberians with honor and dignity while disclosing that the suspects would serve their suspension for one month each without salary.

Meanwhile, Varfee Holmes and Lemuel Vah have reportedly refunded the four thousand US Dollars to the affected party.
