MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah has attributed the fluctuations of the exchange rate to post-festive season demand for US dollars.

Minister Piah noted that the current rate of depreciation of the Liberian Dollar is expected to slow down soon, consistent with historical patterns.

He said: “The Government of Liberia, through the Central Bank, will continue to monitor the foreign exchange market to implement proactive monetary policy measures.”

Speaking at the MICAT Press Briefing on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Monrovia, the information minister also urged the public to invest in the Central Bank of Liberia bills to stabilize the economy.

Minister Jerolinmek Piah said Liberia’s rate fluctuations are temporary.

At the same time, Minister Piah says the Liberian Government is not taking lightly the burning of the Capitol.

He said:” The Government of Liberia will ensure that those involved in the incident be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

The Information Boss emphasized the importance of holding everyone accountable for their actions, stressing the Government’s stance on the Capitol incident.

Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah also wants Liberians to allow the legal process to unfold, to ensure that the perpetrators of the incident are brought to justice.
