MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti has initiated discussions with the US Embassy in Monrovia regarding alternatives to the deportation of about one thousand five hundred Liberians by the Trump Administration.
Minister Nyanti has also proposed a meeting with the new U.S. Secretary of State to address the planned deportation of Liberians from the United States.
According to a statement from the Liberian Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Government of Liberia is committed to safeguarding the interests of its citizens overseas, and is actively seeking a resolution to the deportation situation.
The statement emphasized Liberia’s appreciation for its partnership with the United States and ongoing collaboration to identify a mutually beneficial solution regarding the deportation.
It also reaffirmed that President Joseph Boakai’s Administration is dedicated to ensuring the welfare and safety of all Liberians abroad while continuing its efforts to achieve a solution that protects their interests.
