MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested a thirty-seven-year-old Kenyan female with a huge assignment of heroin.
Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, February 3, 2025, LDEA Director General Anthony Suoh disclosed that the drug confiscated at the International Airport on Saturday, February 1, was confirmed to be heroin.
Director General Suoh said:” The consignment put at 8.64 kg is equivalent to 8,643 grams worth 388,835 dollars.”
The LDEA Boss said:” During said preliminary investigation, suspect Lina Kolumbo admitted bringing the luggage containing the drug to Liberia, but said a Thailand-based Nigerian national known as Alex asked her to deliver the package to one Abel Somah in Liberia.”
Director General Suoh assured Liberians that the LDEA is ready and up to fighting illicit drugs, emphasizing that under his watch, the institution has undergone appropriate restructuring and training, with the support of partners, and is fully prepared for robust implementation of its mandate.
Meanwhile, Director General Anthony Suoh said the suspect will be forwarded to court for prosecution.
