Monrovia City Mayor Charges Citizens to Forge Transformative Methods…

by Jonathan O. Grigsby, Sr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Monrovia City Mayor has charged citizens to forge transformative approaches that will enhance sanitation in Monrovia and its environs.

Mayor John Siafa said:” It is about time that citizens collaborate with the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) in ensuring that the city remains clean and green at all times.”

According to him, waste disposal, especially in the principal streets across the country continues to hinder the progress of sanitation in Liberia.

Mayor Siafa’s statement is contained in a message to citizens as the MCC celebrates thirty-seven years of Monrovia Day.

This year’s Monrovia Day is celebrated under the theme:” The Monrovia We Want.”

Meanwhile, the Monrovia City Mayor says he remains committed to restoring the dignity of the country’s capital.

At the same time, Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah says the Liberian Government recognizes the present challenges confronting the City of Monrovia and its residents.

Minister Piah named the management of huge waste, urban congestion, and inadequate infrastructure, among others, indicating that those challenges can be addressed through collaborative efforts.

He noted that the Monrovia that was inherited under the current government will be transformed in the coming years for future generations, and Liberians must work to build a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Monrovia for all.
