MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Justice in Chambers at the Supreme Court, Yamie Gbeisay, has ruled in favor of James Biney’s faction of the National Patriotic Party, acknowledging the legitimacy of his chairmanship.
In the ruling, Justice Gbeisay mandated the National Elections Commission to resume jurisdiction and give effect to the Court’s ruling.
It can be recalled that on August 12, 2020, Mr. Biney filed a petition for declaratory judgment before the Six Judicial Circuit Court against NPP Standard Bearer, Jewel Howard Taylor, accusing her of usurping the power and functions of the party’s National Executive Committee members.
Madam Taylor was also accused of illegally citing members of the party for meetings, amending the party’s constitution, and conducting other activities on behalf of the party without the acquiescence of the Executive Committee.
