Nat’l Commission on Higher Education Begins Inspection of Universities, Colleges across Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) has begun the inspection of universities and colleges across Liberia.

The move is aimed at weeding out substandard higher institutions of learning throughout the country.

The Executive Director of the Commission, Professor Edward Wonkeryor, said:” The inspection will cover strategic plans, curriculums, academic qualification of faculty, classrooms, environment and accreditation.”

Speaking in an interview on Monday, February 24, 2025, Professor Wonkeryor noted that following the inspection, the full reports and recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners of the Commission.

According to the NCHE Chairperson, there are currently seventy-nine universities and colleges nationwide.

The Executive Director, Edward Wonkeryor said:” Any institution that fails to meet the benchmark set by the Liberian Government will be closed down without delay.”
