MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Multi-Sectorial Committee on Drug and Substance Abuse has convened a stakeholder engagement meeting to develop a comprehensive school manual on substance use prevention among young people.

According to a Health Ministry release issued recently, the primary objective of the engagement is to integrate the school manual into the national curriculum, ensuring that students receive essential education on the dangers of drug and substance abuse.

The release also said the manual will serve as an important tool in promoting healthy behaviors, informed decision-making, and resistance to peer pressure among school-going youths.

The engagement brought together key stakeholders from various government ministries, including the Ministries of Health, Education, Youth and Sports, and Justice, as well as the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA).

UN partners were led by UNFPA, alongside representatives from civil society organizations, including the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), YMCA, YWCA, and the National Commission on Disability, among others.
