MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) is to shortly launch what it calls “Operation True Guardian”, a comprehensive security operation.
The operation, which is expected to begin this March, will take place in Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, and Gbarpolu Counties.
AFL Deputy Chief of Public Affairs, Major El-Dorado Jebboe, said:” The move is triggered by the increasing wave of illicit activities, including cross-border smuggling of arms, drugs, and humans.”
Speaking on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Ministry of National Defense, Maj. Jebboe said these illegal acts have not only compromised national security but have also created fear and instability in the region.
He attributed the increasing waves of illicit activities in Western Liberia to the absence of military personnel in these areas.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense has called for a well-coordinated, sustained, and strategic approach to address illicit activities in Liberia.
