MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has reiterated its commitment to the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.

Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Daniel Sando, said:” The establishment of the Court is intended to lead the fight for justice for atrocities committed during the Liberian Civil War, as well as ensure national reconciliation.”

Minister Sando noted that there have been numerous calls from local and internal human rights organizations, requesting the government to keep the momentum for the establishment of the Court.

He emphasized that the government is aware of the various challenges confronting the Office, ranging from funding to administrative issues, among others.

Addressing the MICAT Regular Press Briefing on Thursday, May 1, 2025, in Monrovia, Minister Sando also pointed out that the US Embassy’s statement supported President Boakai’s quest for the establishment of the Court to bring alleged perpetrators to justice.
