Gov. of Liberia Ends Two-day Compliance Assessment of Gold Production…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has completed a two-day compliance assessment of the gold production, processing, and export of minerals by the Bea Mountain Mining Company in Kinjor, Grand Cape Mount County.

Mines and Energy Minister Wilmot Paye said:” The exercise is in furtherance of the Liberian Government’s concession monitoring, to ensure compliance with the Minerals and Mining Law of Liberia by all holders of Mineral Rights in the country.”

The exercise saw an intensive review of the implementation of the Standard Operating Procedure for Gold Exportation, beginning with a joint high-level Government delegation comprising the ministries of Mines and Energy, Finance, State for Presidential Affairs, Liberia Revenue Authority, and the Central Bank of Liberia.

The Team was led by Minister Paye, along with the LRA Commission General, the Senior Economic Advisor to the President, the Deputy Mines and Energy for Planning, Research and Development, the Commissioner of Customs, and several Senior Technicians from the participating institutions.

In Kinjor, the Team visited and inspected Bea Mountain Mining Company’s gold smelting, packaging, weighing, and storage processes, and later proceeded to the Roberts International Airport (RIA).

At the RIA, the joint Liberian Government’s delegation also inspected all processes and procedures leading to gold shipment or export by Bea Mountain Mining Company.
