MONROVIA, LIBERIA- Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti has renewed Liberia’s commitment to international diplomacy, regional cooperation, and climate diplomacy in line with the ARREST Agenda.
Minister Beysolow-Nyanti restated Liberia’s strategic position within ECOWAS and the African Union (AU), as regional frameworks are critical to addressing transnational issues like climate change and economic development.
She said:” The ARREST Agenda focuses on Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism, which is more than a development plan.”
Minister Beysolow-Nyanti spoke when a high-level team from the Africa Study Tour of the Ghana Armed Forces Command paid her a courtesy visit at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
She, however, underscored Liberia’s rich natural resources as assets that must be used to benefit future generations of the country and not be sources of conflict.
Meanwhile, the Head of the delegation, Brigadier General B.B. Owusu, acknowledged the importance of Liberia’s leadership and the relevance of the visit’s theme.
General Owusu noted that the visit reaffirmed Liberia’s diplomatic engagement in regional and global climate issues.
He also said:” Liberia is committed to inclusive, sustainable progress through strategic partnerships and forward-looking policy.”
The theme of the visit is “Climate Change, Environment, and Development.”
According to a Foreign Ministry release, the visit provided a platform for a wide-ranging discussion on the intersection of natural resource governance, regional stability, and inclusive development.
