MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The 30th Anniversary Assembly of the National Imam Council of Liberia has adopted a five-count resolution following a three-day deliberation.

The Council assured the Liberian Government and all stakeholders of its commitment to the promotion of peace and development in Liberia.

The Council also reaffirmed its dedication to the trust given to serve as leaders and guides of the Muslim Ummah task enshrined in the primary sources of Islam.

The Council, however, expressed concern over what it called the continuous malfunction of the National Legislature and called for the overhaul of the governance system.

The organization governing Imams in the country also emphasized the need for the government to declare holidays for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

The National Imam Council of Liberia said,” Such a declaration would give true meaning to the celebration of National Unification Day, as it would create greater patriotism in young Muslims in particular and the population at large.
