MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has expressed sadness over the passing of former First Lady Nancy Doe.
President Boakai, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in his name, expressed heartfelt sympathy to the Doe family during this time of mourning.
The President said,” Former First Lady Nancy Bohn Doe served with grace and dignity during a pivotal time in Liberia’s history, recounting her contributions as carrying out the responsibilities of her position with strength, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and country.”
President Boakai said,” While serving as a cabinet minister in the government of her late husband, Samuel Doe, I had the privilege of observing the life to be one of resilience, marked by both the drive for national service and personal sacrifice.”
While history may record the complexities and tumult of the crisis era, as a nation, Liberia must rise in acknowledgement of the honorable and courageous path the country’s fallen compatriot, First Lady Doe, whose life was interwoven with the nation’s often intriguing journey, served her country and people.
