MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has reiterated its dedication to promoting democracy, good governance, human rights, and environmental sustainability.
Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti said,” The government will continue upholding the rule of law, a cornerstone for ensuring good governance and a thriving democracy.”
Minister Beysolow-Nyanti expressed the government’s commitment to this cause during the just-ended 13th EU-Liberia Partnership Dialogue, convened by the Liberian Government and the European Union.
She noted that Liberia remains firm in its commitment to international treaty obligations concerning the death penalty, electoral reforms, constitutional review, review of electoral laws, and the War and Economic Crimes Court.
The Liberian Foreign Minister also highlighted the West African nation’s dedication to promoting regional, continental, and global peace and security.
Meanwhile, the EU Head of delegation Liberia, Nona Deprez says the EU remains committed in supporting the implementation of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
The Liberian government’s development drive focuses on delivering tangible benefits to the Liberian people.
Ambassador Deprez said, “The EU will continue backing Liberia’s development objectives within the framework of its Annual Indicative Programme, prioritizing, enhancing, and preserving natural resources for growth, land use, and forest conservation logging.”
The EU Head of Delegation also underscored the importance og good governance and transparency as critical elements of the Liberia-EU Partnership.
Ambassador Nona Deprez expressed the EU’s continued cooperation with Liberia in areas of mutual interest, aligning with Liberia’s development plan, which is currently being shaped through broad-based national consultations.
