Gov. of Liberia Calls Sen. Snowe’s Declaration to Destabilize Its Functions Negligent, Provocative

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has described as irresponsible and inflammatory a recent statement by Bomi County Senator Edwin Snowe, who is also a member of the ECOWAS Parliament, wishing the failure of the current government led by President Joseph Boakai.

Senator Snowe, according to the information ministry, vowed to do everything possible to ensure that the Boakai-led government fails, even if it means discouraging direct foreign investment to Liberia, and making the country ungovernable and unstable until he, Snowe, becomes President.

An information ministry statement is quoted as saying the government reminds Senator Snowe and other officials who may hold similar thoughts that no citizen is licensed to undermine their own country and government by vowing to use ECOWAS internal institutions or other international organizations to either promote their selfish ambitions or plot destabilization.

The government is, meanwhile, calling on all sub-regional and international organizations to ensure that such plan by Senator Snowe and his collaborators is not actualized.

The MICAT statement said,” Liberia will continue to remain a champion of peace, security and economic integration within the Mano River Union, ECOWAS, African Union and the broader international system.”

The government assured Liberians of its capacity to, at all times, meet its obligations and will do all it can to succeed, keep the country safe, ensure stability and prevent those wishing to cause chaos from achieving their evil intentions.

The government is, at the same time, urging the Liberian people to work continuously with and lend support to their government to meet their needs, and build a prosperous nation.
