KAKATA, MARGIBI, LIBERIA – The Children’s Healthcare International Program (CHIP)-Liberia says it is committed to supporting government’s effort to identify with children, women the disabled in the fight against the Coronavirus.
The Executive Director of Children’s Healthcare International, Margaret Siah Tolbert, said her organization is targeting several institutions, including the church, Group of-77, the Christian Association of the Blind, to prevent the spread of the virus.
CHIP is a non-profit organization operating in Liberia and the United States, and dedicated to impacting lives through healthcare and empowerment to improve the living of the children, women, underprivileged and people with Special Needs.
Liberia on Monday, March 16, 2020 announced its first COVID-19 Positive case to the world in a nationwide address, by President George Weah and banned all non-essential travels by Government officials and all Liberians to and from countries with huge cases of the coronavirus.
Currently the country between March 16, to April 1, 2020 has recorded the total of six confirmed Coronavirus cases with about 53 contacts are being tested.
As part of its support to Coronavirus fight, Madam Torwon Sulonteh-Brown deputizing for CHIP Executive Director, Tuesday, March 31, 2020 presented several dozens of hands washing buckets and sanitary materials to 48 households also to churches at the Sugar Hill Community, in Kakata.
She also challenged donors, local organizations and philanthropists to partner with CHIP in addressing the medical, healthcare needs of the venerable.
The two needy groups, Group of -77 and the Christian Association of the Blind expressed gratitude over CHIP initiatives for recognizing that they are the most needy people, and appealed for assistance in identifiable appreciate areas to help improve their livelihood.
For his part, the community Chairman of the Sugar Hill, and host of other beneficiaries lauded CHIP’s intervention and said the gesture was timely and that the items will be used for the intend purpose.
