MONROVIA,LIBERIA-The Parent body of football in Liberia, the Liberia Football Association (LFA) has made huge donations to the Health Ministry as part of efforts to eradicate the coronavirus.
The Local Football House Thursday, April 9, 2020, donated dozens of buckets, several thermometers, assorted gloves, masks and hand sanitizers valued at $7,500 USD to the Health Ministry, as part of its contribution to the fight against the killer disease, the coronavirus.
The LFA President, Mustapha Raji, presenting the materials said:” It was the LFA’s way of identifying with Health Authorities in the battle against coronavirus in the Country.
Mr. Raji further said the victory over the virus will be a huge boast to football in Liberia.
He called on Footballers in the Country and other football executives to keep safe, as the Liberia will need them when the virus is wiped out and football development activities resume.
Receiving the materials, Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah praised the LFA and its executives for identifying, not only with the Ministry, but the entire Country as the donation is intended to help stop the virus spread.
Dr. Jallah said:” The LFA’s support to the Health Sector at this crucial time will go a long way in the fight against the COVID-19.”
She added that the LFA’s contribution indicates that Liberians from all walks of life are uniting in the fight against the killer disease in Liberia.
She called on football stakeholders and players not to take the preventative measures of the virus likely, as it could ruin the career of those who come in contact with the virus.
The outbreak of the COVID-19 has stalled football activities across the World, with LFA officials constantly reminding football stakeholders and players in Liberia to adhere to the Health protocols of the Country.
LFA President, Raji was accompanied to the Health Ministry in Congo Town by his Vice President for Administration, Prof. Sekou Konneh, Executive Committee Members, Paywala Jayan, Mamie Kpoto, LFA Technical Director Henry Brown, Communication Director, Danesius Marteh and others at the LFA.
The LFA also made donations of COVID-19 preventive materials to two of its sub-associations, the Montserrado and Margibi Counties Sub-Associations.
Liberia has recorded thirty-one cases of coronavirus with four deaths as of Thursday, April 9, 2020.
