Monrovia-Liberia, The Ministry of Mines and Energy has ordered the closure of sand mining activities in Greenville, Sinoe County.
Our Sinoe County Correspondent quotes Foday Banney, Regional Commander of the Ministry of Mines and Energy in the County as saying it was intended to stop the sea erosion in the County.
According to our Sinoe County Correspondent, the directive was also in response to complaints filed by some residents of the County.
Mr. Banney told our Correspondent that some homes were affected by sea erosion as a result of sand mining along the sea coast of the County.
Sinoe County is among other coastal Counties experiencing sea erosion as a result of sand mining on beaches.
