MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President George Weah says the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by member countries of the United Nations remains a major challenge to the world body.
In 2015, the United Nations established the Sustainable Development Goals to replace the former Millennium Development Goals, with an agenda to address specified goals by 2030.
But, addressing the 75th Anniversary of the UN on Monday, September 20, 2020 President Weah, called on UN Member countries, including Liberia, to redouble their efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
The Liberian Leader said not much has done to meet such target due to global challenges confronting members’ countries of the UN.
The President, however, renewed the Liberian Government’s commitment to the principles and ideals of the UN and underscored to redefine the missions and visions of the World Body.
President Weah was speaking Monday when he virtually addressed a high-level meeting along with other world leaders as part of celebrations commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the UN.
