Monrovia Liberia – Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah, is expected to join other finance Ministers from across the world at this year’s Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) conference in November.
SWA is a global partnership of governments, donors, Civil Society Organizations working together to coordinate high-level action, improve accountability and use scarce resources effectively to achieve universal access to clean water and adequate sanitation.
Finance ministers at the conference will discuss their country’s individual support to the WASH Sector.
Ahead of the conference, the SWA-CSO Focal Point for Liberia, Timothy Kpeh, is calling for more financial investments and political will to increase access to clean water and adequate sanitation in the country.
Speaking to ELBC Thursday, Mr. Kpeh lauded government for establishment of the WASH Commission and the inclusion of WASH in the National Budget, but called for more action in the WASH Sector.
Mr. Kpeh also stressed the need for behavior change among citizens in terms of maintenance of WASH facilities as one sure way of increasing access to clean water and adequate sanitation.
