MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Promising Young striker Joseph Melto was on the score sheet as LISCR FC rallied to collect a point against Nimba United at the Samuel Kenyan Doe Sports Complex, in continuation of the LFA Orange National League.
Melto, who drew the biggest attention during the recent off season tournament in Monrovia, struck the ball at the back of the Nimba United net in the 88th minutes to rescue a point for LISCR FC, and also end his own goal drought in the top league.
The Young striker who ended the LFA offseason tournament as the king, had appeared in all of LISCR FC six league fixtures so far this season, but had found it difficult to net in.
After missing couple of chances against Nimba United, the young lad beautifully completed a LISCR FC attack started by former CSKA Moscow Attacker, Sekou Jabateh.
LISCR had gone behind twice to Nimba United who were having a coach for the first time in a month.
Mustapha Lombell had given Nimba United the lead 26 minutes into the game, before Mark Karly leveled with a powerful head up eight minutes later.
Varney Dukuly restored Nimba United’s lead four minutes to half time.
But after several delay tactics on the part of Nimba United, were players kept falling to the group apparently to waste time, LISCR FC made changes, bringing on Sam Jackson and Sekou Jabateh.
The two introductions quickly impacted the LISCR FC frontline, as the pressure was turned on Nimba United defense.
Nimba United new coach, Papa Kamara, who was having his first match since taken over recently, said he had mix feelings with the result.
“I’m sad and happy a little with the result. Two cheap goals denied us the victory. We did not come for that, but it’s ok, especially when the boys have not been playing with a coach for a month,” said Coach Papa Kamara.
According to him, the club is fighting to maintain its status this season and will not be aiming high for title.
For LISCR FC Coach, the draw was a lost for him. “I think we lost. Take it as a lost. We have created lots of goal chances in the first 45 minutes, without capitalizing on them”.
Commenting on Joseph Melto, Coach Tappia Manneh said he was happy for the kid getting his first goal of the season. “I think Melto should have scored more than one goal today. He’s a young player coming up”.
The draw keeps LISCR FC in the middle of the table in six position, with eight points in six games, while Nimba United are rested a point above the relegation area on six points at the 9th spot on the table.
