MONROVIA, LIBERIA – More than 1.9million children across Liberia are expected to be vaccinated against Typhoid beginning March 2021.
The vaccination exercise is targeting children between the ages of nine months to 14 years. The Typhoid vaccination exercise is part of the Ministry of Health’s roll-out of series of vaccines including the Astrazeneca Vaccine for COVID-19.
The Program Manager for Immunization at the Health Ministry, Dr. Adolphus Clark, said 384,000 doses of the Astrazeneca Vaccine will arrive in Liberia next week to commence the vaccination exercise two weeks later.
According to Mr. Clark, the COVID-19 vaccine will initially targeted health workers, the elderly, people with comorbidity and people who cannot socially distance due to the work they do.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health is also expected to commence a nationwide Polio Vaccination exercise in March 2021 to vaccinate more than 900,000 children between ages zero to 509 months.
