MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Finance Minister Samuel Tweah says increased budgetary allotment to the Education Sector will take effect the next budget year.
Minister Tweah said:” The expected budgetary allotment will particularly benefit early childhood development and primary and secondary education.’
According to him, the Government of Liberia is also working to further its engagement with Authorities of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), to improve the results of students.
He spoke Wednesday, March 17, 2021, when he served as Guest Lecturer at the Sixty-Eighth Annual Council Meeting and Twenty-Fifth Endowment Fund Lecture of the WAEC in Monrovia.
Minister Tweah said though the WAEC is trying its best to build human capital development, there is an urgent need to review the modules being used in the West African Education System.
Also speaking via Zoom, the Chairman of the Council, Babucarr Buoy of the Gambia, affirmed the Council’s commitment to consider some of the recommendations made by the Minister.
