MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s First Lady is saddened by the fatal shooting of a female student at the Cyber-Ed Christian School, in Monrovia.
In a release issued on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, Madam Clar Weah described the death of the fourteen year old female student, Precious Ireland, as a huge loss.
The First Lady, however, urged the bereaved family to remain calm, as police investigates the incident.
Meanwhile, Madam Weah has underscored the urgency of instituting rigorous measures, to ensure the safety of students and staffers at various schools across the Country.
She is at the same time calling on the Ministry of Education and partners to work along with school authorities, to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and others that are capable of disrupting teaching and learning processes at schools.
At the same time, some schools authorities in Paynesville have expressed grieve over the occurrence.
The Principal of the Dominion Christian Institute, Abraham Mason, described the incident as unfortunate.
Mr. Mason re-emphasized the need for school to put some mechanisms in place, where, where students will be searched before entering classes.
He is further appealing to the Government of Liberia to increase security for schools, in order to prevent such incidents from occurring again.
For his part, an Instructor of the J.C. Goodridge High School, Chuchu Moore, stressed the need for government to work with local organizations to create massive anti-violence awareness in schools.
