RIVERCESS COUNTY- Authorities of Rivercess County have arrested at least three persons linked to stealing of the street lights recently installed by the Presidential Street Light Project team, considering it as souvenirs.
Representative Byron Zahnwea made the comments followed the retrieval and re-installation of the stolen street lights in the County.
Representative Zahnwea said following cross-examination, the three persons admitted stealing the lights but said the act was not intentional.
According to him, they told the local leadership of the county that the street lights were removed and taken to their respective areas as souvenirs of the President’s visit.
The Rivercess County District 2 Representative however said the suspects have been pardoned and they volunteered to keep watch of the lights.
He is at the same time cautioning citizens of the County to maintain the lights and other public facilities in the county.
In another development, the county’s authorities have also intervened in the lack of Science Teachers situation at the Cestos High School in the County.
They have hired five qualified instructors to teach science courses at the School ahead of the WASSCE Exams. The decision was taken after the Science Department of the School was shut down due to lack of teachers.
Rivercess County District #2 Representative, Zahnwea made the disclosure to ELBC Tuesday, May 18, 2021. The Lawmaker said the instructors are being compensated monthly by the leadership of the county.
